Making Tunnel Props

Today, in the project Zielonka City, I’m creating some tunnel props (assets) that will be instanced in GIANTS Editor (repeating objects), just to take a short break from the pretty demanding high-rise buildings.
These props are typical along trafficked roads, and for the tunnel, the ones below are wall-mounted. There will also be variations of this prop in other lengths. This one is 19 meters long.

When it comes to high-rise buildings, the 77-meter building below is the one that will likely be featured on the map after the weekend. The frame structure (black beams) consists of 17,000 triangles in total and will be a single object in the transform group for this building, as well as the ZCorp building behind it.

The tunnel itself isn’t very dark inside its superstructure, due to how dynamic shadows work in GIANTS Engine. So when it comes to the sealing lights, I may have to make fake static shadows. After all, it’s a 1000-meter-long road tunnel, and there’s not much daylight in such structures. I’d like to see how this turns out later on.

Almost 100 assets have been created in Blender for this map mod since the end of 2024. And they are all sharing 43 texture maps (base color map in Blender language) and 50 materials, from asphalt surfaces to variations of concrete, stone tiles, metals etc.
