Since the game was released, it still hasn’t explained everything clearly. And it’s a flaw because this game is known for throwing the player right into logistical chaos and order. And it does so way worse than Transport Fever 2.

When you look at the specialisation platforms for cargo hubs (mainly any cargo transfer asset for goods), the information for that specialisation states: Platform with increasing loading speed…

Now what it doesn’t tell you is: Platform ALSO with increasing unloading speed… 🙂 🙂 🙂

Because if you add these to a cargo hub for unloading only, the unloading speed for cargo trucks will be 200%. And why this important detail isn’t stated in the text…is what affects the delivery time reputation – which is a somewhat ‘ultrasensitive’ system that takes the classical TF2 gameplay to another level. But mainly, this level has little else besides a difficulty feature, where you can pick a gameplay mode with no reputation system activated. You can also turn off the reputation system for each town and place your own towns in the map editor.

I’m a classic Transport Fever player and have had hundreds of hours of gameplay since TF2. To my/your ADHD trigger alarm, I played the normal difficulty for TF3 for about a day, ending up paying loans with loans. Because what did I do? I used the random map generator… 16 towns, and somewhere around 1970, it was a huge mess. But I managed to ‘survive’ despite a very negative economy and reputation. I even made it to CEO rank when I finally decided to leave and start a new game on a custom map I made, using two towns and a pre-placed industry area in the middle of the map. With that setup, I got to the highest rank, starting from the year 1980.

As a warning: If you place very large towns inside a custom map… keep in mind the cargo demand for these will be astronomical once you reach the point where the town level is called city *not a town anymore*. You’ll need major transport lines into these cities. And you still have to deal with major car traffic as well – which gamers were complaining about when TF2 was released.
There is only one way to kill private traffic…public transport. If any passenger line gets stuck, then what’s going to happen? The citizens will use their cars instead… Things get messy quite fast after that. Pollution and noise increase, and real traffic jams occur.

The game doesn’t really tell you how powerful beating the game with custom maps is. All you need is to play with the map editor, do some test plays, and do some studying, and you’ll soon understand the flow of everything.
