May I introduce you to the concept of new wildlife in Farming Simulator that isn’t a part of farming?

The faltering gameplay concept of farming in Farming Simulator has taken a new direction. Highlands Fishing introduced fishing as a new feature, while the upcoming Vredo Pack for FS25 introduces wild boars that affect the farmland fields.

If nothing is new under the sun, then this DLC does not qualify you to hunt these new wild animals. Hunting wild animals is prohibited in Farming Simulator due to the PG rating, which is rated EVERYONE. What a loss of revenue this must be…

The potential for hunting wild animals in Farming Simulator would have probably made other game developers turn the tables. Given the other titles on the gaming market, GIANTS Software could have competed with them. So far, there is no indication that this is the case.

Wild Boars But Not Bad Crows

The new Vredo pack for the game gives the impression of a game developer who has lost their sense of direction. Why would wild boars destroy the fields and not other pest animals?

Crows have been a part of Farming Simulator since the beginning. For example, in our real world, flying predators will feed on freshly sown fields.

Crows are recognised as significant agricultural pests that damage crops and farmland, particularly by attacking newly planted seeds, seedlings, and ripening fruit. While they do provide some benefits by eating harmful insects and rodents, their opportunistic feeding habits often lead to economic losses.

PG-Rating: The Difference Between A Bullet And A Fishing Hook

Many game titles have a PG rating that is well above EVERYONE. But the difference between a bullet from a hunting rifle and a fishing rod is like the difference between blood and water.

Fishing was introduced into the game as a new income opportunity for the virtual farmer, with fishing farms and new processing facilities. Operational boats were also added as new water-going vehicles. But has this really given the game any major expansion?

There are no other conclusions to draw from this than that the project is almost loss-making for GIANTS Software if they do not change the PG rating for new expansion packs to reach a broader group of video gamers.

The problem with Farming Simulator is its demanding PG rating, which could have been changed to attract new customers who are not children.
If GIANTS Software could develop a separate child-friendly version of the game instead of sticking to the restrictive PG rating, much of this problem would be a thing of the past.

This is something the game developer should consider for new versions of the game. Hunting wild animals is probably a popular concept for a game that, in its arcade guise, gives the player the impression of great opportunities for exploration and gameplay.

In any case, game developers may see opportunities that GIANTS Software does not. And perhaps game mods will expand the possibilities when these are not distributed via ModHub.
